Caitlin Press is looking for new stories.

We continue to search for great stories from BC's Central Interior, but we are also on the lookout for stories about and by BC women.

Caitlin Press was established in 1977 by Carolyn Zonailo as a feminist literary press. In the 1980s, Caitlin Press moved from Gabriola Island to Vancouver and expanded its mandate to that of a BC literary press.

Cynthia Wilson and the late Ken Carling bought Caitlin Press in 1991 and moved the business to Prince George, quickly establishing themselves as the trade publisher of interior British Columbia. During her fourteen years as publisher of Cailtin Press, Cynthia Wilson stayed true to Zonailo's original mandate, supporting and publishing a wide variety of BC women's literature.

In March 2008, Vici Johnstone of Halfmoon Bay purchased Caitlin Press. Under her direction, Caitlin will continue to publish writers who reflect the concerns, culture and history of that part of Canada called the "middle north" which lies between the southern, heavily-populated areas and the far north. "This region is not only deeply rooted in the history of the province, but it is also an exciting and fresh new cultural hub of BC. The stories of the Central Interior deserve a unique voice in the BC publishing community."

In addition to its regional mandate Caitlin Press will honour its original roots by actively seeking, promoting and publishing work by and about BC women.

Caitlin Press publishes culturally significant books, including fiction, non-fiction (both historical and creative), and poetry. Occasionally we will produce a children's, young adult or a crossover title.
